Sr Frances Wheeler SHCJ first went to the junior school at St Leonards-on-Sea as a young child before going to Mayfield where she eventually became head girl. She read Classics at the University of Reading before entering the Society of the Holy Child Jesus and taking the religious name of "Mother Mary Stephen".
Mary Lonsdale
1934 - 2024
This site is a tribute to Mary Lonsdale, who was born on June 15, 1934. She is much loved and will always be remembered.
This Candlelight Fund has been set up to celebrate the lives of Lorna and Neville La Frenais. They were both the most kindest and generous of people. Visitors were always made to feel welcome with the offering of food and of course a cup of tea. They provided a loving home to five children and eight grandchildren.
Best mum and dad ever
When our son Kieran died in a motorway accident in January 2005, our life changed. He was only 22, had graduated the previous year and seemed destined for a successful career in IT. We went from everything being rosy in our life to sudden devastation. It was only our Christian faith and the community around us which gave us strength to carry on.

In the same way Mary was both unique and shaped by her relationships with all those around her - loving parents, grandparents, brother and sister, sister in law, boyfriend, nieces, cousins, aunties and uncles and a host of amazing friends.

This fund is in memory of Joyce Dobra, a loving mum, granny & great-granny, who passed away on 25th June 2024, aged 98. An amazing lady. Greatly missed by Stephen & Tony & both their families.
Rita was a truly remarkable woman who always put the needs of others before her own. She was totally selfless and would never see anyone be lonely, hungry or in need of care. We have created this Candlelight Fund in Rita's memory to support the valuable work done by CAFOD around the world.
Following his sudden passing, we have set up this fund to honour his memory as CAFOD was a cause that has been close to his heart for many years. He was passionate about helping to provide those less fortunate with the means to build a better life, and followed the progress of communities supported by the charity.
